"Fool Me Once": A Mind-Bending Rollercoaster of Deception and Redemption

Based on the novel by Harlan Coben, “Fool Me Once” is an eight-part thriller series that follows the story of Maya, played by Michelle Keegan, who is struggling to hold the pieces of her life together after her husband Joe is shot dead. The show also stars Richard Armitage as Joe, and Joanna Lumley as Joe’s mother Judith.

The plot of the show revolves around Maya’s impulse to find out the truth about her husband’s death and protect herself. The supposedly dead Joe mysteriously appears on nanny-cam footage, hugging his daughter, which leads Maya to investigate the truth behind his death. The show has a lot of potential for intriguing plot twists, but it is not without its flaws.

The plot is convoluted and implausible, and the dialogue can be melodramatic at times. However, the show’s strong performances and the chemistry between the actors make it worth watching. Michelle Keegan delivers a solid performance as Maya, and Richard Armitage’s portrayal of Joe is hauntingly good.

The show’s cinematography is also noteworthy. The use of light and shadow, especially in the scenes where Maya is investigating Joe’s death, creates a sense of unease and tension that keeps the audience engaged.

Overall, “Fool Me Once” is a show that is worth watching if you’re a fan of Harlan Coben’s work or if you’re looking for a mindless thriller to watch. The show’s flaws are outweighed by its strong performances, intriguing plot, and excellent cinematography. Enjoy!

PS- The only thing that is not realistic is how a young, beautiful late 30s lady who has adventure in her blood ends up driving the most ugly, boring, slow, and unreliable car that has ever been built. A Jaguar!!!!
