California Dreaming

Image
One of the most beautiful roads in California, hundreds of miles, riding through Joshua Tree National Park to Pioneertown. The low speed limit and high traffic don't induce you to go fast, but the high speeds is not part of the spirit of a similar ride. Cruising in tranquility, is the name of the game, preferably on some American steel, powered by a V twin Harley Davidson engine as you enjoy the beautiful country side, on the tune of Johnny Cash, Hogs Sun and Cash...give me some time to catch my breath!

Robert Plant and Brian Adams

Image
Looks like it is gonna be another summer graced with concerts of a great calibre. FANTASTIC...to be sincere I still can’t believe that Roger Waters was here and I saw him LIVE in Malta. I’m not saying that the other performers who played concerts here were bad (I didn’t like Sting’s performance). I really enjoyed watching Elton John, Tina Turner, Marco Masini especially his last performance in the Gozo theatre. All three know how to get in touch with their audience. I didn’t enjoy the Australian Pink Floyd much, probably because I have seen the real thing twice. I was also disappointed with Joe Cocker’s performance too. Now I’m looking forward to the next best of this year especially the Malta Blues Wine Festival. Robert Plant, the legendary front man of the 1970s rock band Led Zeppelin, is one of the international artists that will be playing live during the Malta Blues Wine Festival, next July.Robert Plant is expected to be in Malta for two days, and will be playing at a yet undisclo...

The Silk Road Adventure-one of my dreams

Image
They are back all the eighteen of them, with so many experiences and that special feeling of freedom. After covering more then 12,800 km and conquering 8countries from Turkey to China in 53 days they are back after finishing their world tour. A daunting incredible journey which Helge Pedrsen, the leader of Globe Trotters Tours has been doing for the last 10 years, 4 times a year. This time they had to go thru a new route, The Silk Road. I hope one day I would afford to take so much days off to be able to do it. It's one of my dreams to be able to visit so many places in such an exotic way because it is such a exciting way to see the world in such a beautiful perspective. It's a challenge that I'll face one of these days...until that day I just watch the video and drool:) for more pictures and info about this specialist tour operator of holidays on two wheels just check the official site of GlobeRiders

WOW!

Image
A couple of days ago I was walking in a small garden. A short distance ahead of me was a mom and her little daughter. The little girl was holding on to a string that was attached to a helium balloon. All of a sudden, a sharp gust of wind took the balloon from the little girl. I braced myself for some screaming and crying. But, no! As the little girl turned to watch her balloon go skyward, she cheerfully shouted out, "Wow!" I didn't realize it at that moment, but that little girl taught me something. Later that day, I received a phone call from a person with news of an unexpected problem. I felt like responding with "Oh no, what should we do?" But remembering that little girl, I found myself saying, "Wow, that's interesting! How can I help you?" One thing's for sure - life's always going to keep us off balance with its unexpected problems. That's a given. What's not predetermined is our response. We can choose to be frustrated or fas...

the turtles

Image
A turtle family went on a picnic. The turtles, being naturally slow about things, took seven years to prepare for their outings. Finally the Turtle family left home looking for a suitable place. During the second year of their journey they found it. For about six months they cleaned up the area, unpacked the picnic basket, and completed the arrangements. Then they discovered they had forgotten the salt. A picnic without salt would be a disaster, they all agreed. After a lengthy discussion, the youngest turtle was chosen to retrieve the salt from home. Although he was the fastest of the slow moving turtles, the little turtle whined, cried, and wobbled in his shell. He agreed to go on one condition: that no one would eat until he returned. The family consented and the little turtle left. Three years passed and the little turtle had not returned. Five years, Six years... Then in the seventh year of his absence, the oldest turtle could no longer contain his hunger. He announced that he was...

Fresh fish

Image
The Japanese have always loved fresh fish. But the waters close to Japan have not held many fish for decades. So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever. The farther the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring in the fish. If the return trip took more than a few days, the fish were not fresh. The Japanese did not like the taste. To solve this problem, fishing companies installed freezers on their boats. They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea. Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer. However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen and they did not like frozen fish. The frozen fish brought a lower price. So fishing companies installed fish tanks. They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin. After a little thrashing around, the fish stopped moving. They were tired and dull, but alive. Unfortunately, the Japanese could still taste the difference. Because the fish did ...

Abbasso la Scuderia Ferrari

Image
McLaren determinedly turned the tables on Ferrari with a clinical victory for Fernando Alonso in the Malaysian Grand Prix today. Team mate Hamilton withstood massive pressure from both Ferraris at different stages in the race to complete a McLaren one-two, ahead of Kimi Raikkonen (which I do believe he is an excellent driver) As the final lap began Raikkonen had the gap down to 0.8s but Hamilton tenaciously clung on to second place - the Finn never getting a chance to make a passing move...yesssss!!! Alonso took the win with a comfortable margin in his second race for McLaren, with Hamilton and Raikkonen behind him. Heidfeld rebuffed Massa’s advances as the Ferrari driver ran wide at the last corner late in the race yahooooooooo lol, well it was a challenging race and looking forward to next week’s in Bahrain and I’ll better be careful and not offend because there is still long way to go and much more races till the end of the season, che vinca il migliore (as long as it is Alonso or e...

"Can I see my baby?" the happy new mother asked. When the baby was nestled in her arms and she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped. The doctor turned quickly and looked out the tall hospital window. The baby had been born without ears. Time proved that the baby's hearing was perfect. It was only his appearance that was imperfect. When he ran home from school one day and flung himself into his mother's arms, she sighed, knowing that his life was to be a succession of heartbreaks. He blurted out the tragedy. "A boy, a big boy ... called me an alien." He grew up, handsome for his misfortune. A favourite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that. He developed a gift, a talent for literature and music. "But you might mingle with other young people," his mother reproved him, but felt a kindness in her heart. The boy's father had a session with the family physician. Could nothing be done? ...

Crescendo s’ impara...

Music Box

Image
It happened quite a lot of times but during Good Friday I tend to listen to experimental music, not just the classic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar of which I am big fan and in my humble opinion think is the best composition ever made to portray Jesus Christ. This year I didn’t have the luck to take part in any rituals which is something I regret, but I couldn’t do otherwise since I was working late. I love it especially after the processions, since our country tends to calm down from 6pm onwards till early Saturday morning, or to put it in a better way I tend to make myself think that these are quieter hours were one should stop and think. During these quiet hours I came across some good stuff and now I keep wondering how it would have been like, to have either David Gilmour playing with the original Genesis in the Lamb lies down on Broadway days, or Peter Gabriel at Pink Floyd during in the Piper by the Gate of Dawn and live in Pompeii era. Regretfully it is a dream which will n...

I hope that the following blog will not make you think that I am big fat rich snob. I am not and I don't know if you are aware that I can only afford to drive a 15year old, mega petrol gulping, high emission emmiting swedish tank car but I came across this wardrobe on wheels in my street. So what's funny about that, one might say....Well it was not just the shape that was apathatic, what made me laugh most was the name of this little silver box, SPARKY , Toyota SPARKY to be exact, "No I dont take my dog for a walk, I ride it and and my pet takes me around!!!!" I love the way the japanese come up with the name of the cars, anyone, for a nissan sunny or a nissan cherry, a suzuki swift or suzuki baleno isn't that bad, but forgive my stupidity, namining a car after a dog's name, is too gross!!! well I remember Spanky, the little cartoon dog, it looked nicer....maybe that's were the guys from toyota got the inspiration...staying on the same theme last year hon...
