A re-enactment of a traditional Maltese Wedding of the past

Image
The Culture Committee within St. Catherine's Musical Society of Zurrieq are extending an invitation to all Maltese and Foreigners to be their guests for a typical Maltese wedding of the past, which is being held in the picturesque narrow roads of Zurrieq on Sunday 20 th May, 2007. The activity will commence in Republic Square, which is the Main Square of Zurrieq, at 10.00am. There, everyone will accompany the bride and groom in their traditional wedding march through Carmel Street. Various installations of traditional Maltese workmanship and crafts will be exhibited on the way. All of this will be enjoyed along with the sound of live music and Maltese folklore singing. ( Ghana Malti.) The wedding ceremony will be held on the pave of St. Andrew's Chapel where it can be followed closely by the crowd. This Chapel was built in the same era, thus making a perfect venue for such an activity. A reception will be held after the wedding ceremony, in the most wonderful environment, uniqu

The only reason that I was not here lately was beacuse in malta there was a little wind and couple of rain drops which as usual stopped me from writing in my blog. No it was not the weather. What happened was as customary I had problems with the internet connection and I was looking forward to see which excuse they will come up with this time after spending a long time again to get hold of customer service. This time the reason was that something inside the modem might have got burnt. The thing is that it rained just enough to dirty ones car and as far as I know there were no thunderstorms. Anyhow I waited for their technician which this time he was 2 days late and his excuse was that there are two houses with the same name in the street where I live even if I have told them I wonder how many times the number of the house and I always find my monthly bill in my letter box. So finally an hour ago I had their technician at my house and the reason why I didn’t have any service was that I

ZOO goes TV

'Minghajr Flus, minghajr flus ghalxejn jiprova jaqbadni l-gharus ghax minghajr flus, minghajr flus la tghannaq u l-anqas tbus' these are some of the lyrics from the latest version of ‘On again Off again’ of Julie and Ludwig as interpreted in maltese by the crew of Zoo, which yesterday I had the chance to watch it being sung at the MCC theater in Ta’Qali. Julie and Ludwig where not the only famous people who where victimized, but even the people watching the show were brought up on stage and been called names. The gang of zoo even had fun taking the piss and mistreating them or throwing them out of the theatre without any reason. Putting aside that the show started 20 minutes late, the large amount of adverts that make you feel like you are not in a theatre but in front of a TV watching some local channels, an uncomfortable seat that was not even big enough for a child to fit in and that some of the gigs were very vulgar and I don’t find vulgar words or vulgar gestures funny, I

The Adventure is Over- Maltese entry for Eurovision song Contest 2007 will not make it to the Finals...

Image
The people who read my blog know well enough that I am very patriotic and I always wish to see that Malta is in the limelight, but to be sincere I really don't like the big fuss that we make over the Eurovision Song Contest. Mind you I love the way that the Maltese people come together and support the whole idea and since the contest is followed by a large quantity of people it is also a cheap way to promote our country. I might sound blunt but the only thing I look forward to during the finals of the Eurovision and the Eurovision song contest itself are the funny comments by Terry Wogan about everything under the sky (yes BBC is my favorite channel because I don’t stand to listen to Eileen Montesin or some others whining in front of a microphone) so one has to keep in mind how sick was having to listen to all 28 songs(if you can call them songs) to see if my premonitions were right at the end of the show. Compared to the songs that were staged last night, ours and Denmark’s were t

Mis-calculations 2

While driving I do tend to relax and I do sometimes drive carelessly, not fast or to make people look at me (even if mine is a Swedish she isn’t a top model) by burning wheels or by trying to overtake cars, even if when I feel like it my car have enough power on tap to do some over speeding—(sexy grin)(I have a wolf in sheep clothing)(sexier grin), I just kinda ease up and let lot of things distract me from the road and that leads to quite a lot of little bumper to bumber accidents. It was not the same case early this morning when I went to drive off and I realised that the front left head and side lamp were missing. At first I thought that someone might have nicked them but at better inspection I found out that both of them were in the engine bay. After saying the rosary the other way round and I slightly calmed down, knowing that the wan**r who did this didn’t even have the guts to let me know, I went like a dog with his tail between the legs to the spare parts shop and believe me t

Premonition- a forewarning!

Image
I was planning to go and watch this particular movie next Sunday evening but yesterday I was given the opportunity to go and watch it with two beautiful girls and that is an offer that it is very difficult for a man to refuse. I was very doubtful about this movie to begin with, but by the tenth crappy preview and a trailer scene which reminded me one of the cheesiest pop-culture moments of all time: Bobby Ewing in the shower on "Dallas." As you may remember, it turned out he wasn't dead after all and the previous season had been a long dream. I just knew I was in for a lonnnng and crap-filled couple of hours. Turns out, though, I was wrong. I wasn't prepared for the fact that I was actually going to enjoy this film, and I certainly wasn't prepared for the thousand twists and turns it took me on. It grabbed me from the very first scene (with just a hint of Sandra Bullock's nipple under her cotton nightie) and tossed me around like a rag doll in the dryer for a

Lyndsay Pace- The Truth in Me

Image
I was talking to a old pal of mine on msn and he is into music big time and when he recommend a video of a local new singer I was kind of taken back since I was busy writing and updating most of my stuff but since he insisted I clicked on the link to see this video of a local performer, new to me by the name of Lyndsay Pace. I was greeted by a failed romance which most of the times is the basis of most rock ballads, but it looks like this hard habit of breaking up has hardened the artist in this determined ballad "The Truth in Me." She "oohs" over a somber piano, creating a wintry tone. She promises herself to do make different decisions than he did. She won't let him make her feel miserable and impulsive. He drew her in all this with his cold pretense. However, it's only caused her to become disillusioned even if she still feel his presence and she keeps longing for his return. Even if during the chorus she sings that deep inside of her she believe that thi
