Lately I had the opportunity to go and see the representations of Equus at St. James Cavalier, by a theatre company I have never heard before called Unifaun Theater. It was fantastic for several reasons! I had to "strongly encourage" my date to come along, she is young and not much into these sort of shows but even thou it is not her usual cup of tea (excuse my pun) I could see in her eyes that she has enjoyed every minute of it. Equus is not easy (I don’t even know how to pronounce it right:)). It is a kind of psychological detective story, a play which does an unusual thing. It asks why? Most plays tell us how. One of the reasons why I love the summer season in Malta (even if my favourite season remains winter) is that one is spoilt for choice when it comes to going out at night with the various activities that are being organized by the tourism ministry or by individual entertaining troupes. These weekend was one of those particular weeks were I had not to go to some particular activities for the reason that or I was too tired or the tickets were sold out a few days sometimes hours after they open at the booking office. For one night only, the 29th of June 2007, the fans of good old rock music were treated to an evening like no other, an evening that sent shock waves throughout the crowded streets as Brian Adams well and truly rocked our little island.This was the first and hope, not the only Maltese date for Brian, whom at the end of the concert he also confirmed that the rumours that he has some Maltese blood rushing thru his veins, were for real. He certainly didn’t disappoint his fans in his more then two hour long set at Luxol’s Football ground in St. Andrews. The concert, in aid of the ‘Find Madeleine’ campaign was a cavalcade of rock. The 3rd of June 2007 is now a new glorious page in Maltese history. It is on this day, after two millennia of Christianity that a Maltese person has been raised to the official state of sainthood. I refer of course to the canonization of Dun Ġorġ Preca. To mark this historical event, the MaltaMedia Online Network has prepared a special commemorative feature . The scope of this feature is to offer an objective look at the life of this great man who has left an indelible mark on the Maltese way of life. While he first and foremost a religious figure, there's no denying Dun Ġorġ's impact from a social perspective. The Culture Committee within St. Catherine's Musical Society of Zurrieq are extending an invitation to all Maltese and Foreigners to be their guests for a typical Maltese wedding of the past, which is being held in the picturesque narrow roads of Zurrieq on Sunday 20 th May, 2007. The activity will commence in Republic Square, which is the Main Square of Zurrieq, at 10.00am. There, everyone will accompany the bride and groom in their traditional wedding march through Carmel Street. Various installations of traditional Maltese workmanship and crafts will be exhibited on the way. All of this will be enjoyed along with the sound of live music and Maltese folklore singing. If you write malta or the maltese islands in google or other search engine, you get 143,000 results of home pages which are related but most of them especially the official Tourism Site visitmalta is just boring. I came across a very well made site about my country and if you want to see what a jewel of a place we live in I recomend you check it out, especially the virtual tours. the site is www.maltavoyager.com if you don't have time for that or like what happened in my case I got spellbound (no not an eurovision song) and spent most of the afternoon checking out this particular site and have other things to do check out this video. This is one of my favourite local bands, Wintermoods. Wintermoods have been churning out amazing stuff for the last two decades and they are an amazing band. Isn't it weird how sometimes you listen to the same song for hundreds of times and you get cought just by the melody and/ or the superb voice of the singer, in this case Ivan's, but today I was sent the link to their video by my friend Alison and somehow I had to look for the lyrics and it is even more weird when sometimes you just think that the song has just been written especially for you because the words just hit the nail and paint a perfect picture of the phase one might be going thru at that particular time... enjoy...
