Daniela Xuereb- Art from the Heart

Image
The first thing that I read every Sunday morning are the magazines that are laden with adverts which come free with the Sunday papers. Mind you, most of the times; most articles are really boring except for the ones in my favourite magazine 'Homeworks', which I tend to, read every part of it, sometimes even more than once. Last Sunday’s freebie was the Sunday Circle and as from today till the 8th of March, the only 'model’s' gracing the front pages of all magazines will be Alfred Sant or Lawrence Gonzi and that had already put me off reading it, but since it was the only available I just sat and started going thru the ads and some articles. When I made it to page 35, (it took me seconds) I was captivated by a lovely smile and that made me read the article with more interest, but to be sincere I spent most of the time looking at the pictures at first, (men will be men!) The article was about a young lady who goes by the name of Daniela Xuereb and about the love of art

Equus By Unifaun Theatre- Dare you defy your own gods?

Image
Lately I had the opportunity to go and see the representations of Equus at St. James Cavalier, by a theatre company I have never heard before called Unifaun Theater. It was fantastic for several reasons! I had to "strongly encourage" my date to come along, she is young and not much into these sort of shows but even thou it is not her usual cup of tea (excuse my pun) I could see in her eyes that she has enjoyed every minute of it. Equus is not easy (I don’t even know how to pronounce it right:)). It is a kind of psychological detective story, a play which does an unusual thing. It asks why? Most plays tell us how. Equus is a psychological inquiry into a crime, a journey into someone's mind. It is a kind of highbrow suspense story, a psychic and mythic thriller, but also an essay in character and motive. It is the documentation of a crime. The story has been based on a flimsily documented but apparently true incident of a young stable hand has attacked six horses in their s

27/7/07. The Simpsons Movie- Catastrophe comes to cinema worldwide-

Image
No good or bad review for an avid fan like me of the now made it to the 18 th series that is 10 long years cartoons show (which took the world by storm wherever it has been transmitted) will stop me from making it to the cinema to finally see the new stretched to 80 minutes episode which is called simply The Simpsons Movie J ...from the trailer alone I can see that this is a film that's so funny it could endanger your health , the problem is that the jokes come so thick and fast, you almost need an interval to recover from them...well what can a humble men like me say more...I’m definitely going to see it for at least once..(Friends know why I said for at least once...). It takes a wide screen to fully capture Homer’s stupidity and the movie does it...this particular guy has to save the world from a catastrophe that he has created himself

Window’s Big Boss says “I want a MAC” (I want one tooooo)

Image
Windows fans (whom I never was) may think Jim Allchin has gone bananas (I don’t blame him if just like me he is forced to work on such a stupid windows platform all day). An email from 2004 just surfaced in which the Windows boss wrote “I would buy a Mac today if I was not working at Microsoft.” The email was in part an extended angry outburst by Allchin about all that was wrong with Microsoft. The email was made public this week as part of a lawsuit against Microsoft. In the email, Allchin says, “I think our teams lost sight of what bug-free means, what resilience means, what full scenarios mean, what security means, what performance means, how important current applications are, and really understanding what the most important problems our customers face are. I see lots of random features and some great vision, but that does not translate into great products.” Ouch! When he wrote that email, Allchin certainly didn’t expect it to see the light of day, and certainly not at a time when

IKEA ASKS PM TO SIT ON IT!!!

Image
In a cheeky ad in yesterday’s Sydney Morning Herald, IKEA Australia asks Prime Minister John Howard “to sit on it” in response to the much publicised claims by WA Liberal MP Don Randall that people can’t really expect the Prime Minister to go to IKEA and put together “dodgy chairs”. Mr Randall’s comments were in defense of the PM’s purchase of more than $200,000 worth of new chairs for the Cabinet room. Created by its new agency HOST Sydney, in conjunction with creative partner The Glue Society, the IKEA ad states, “We respectfully ask Prime Minister John Howard to sit on it”, and shows an image of the JERRIK swivel chair at only $569, which is significantly better value than the almost $3000 paid for each one of the PM’s chairs. There has been intense media interest in the debate about the quality of IKEA chairs following the news from IKEA Australia CEO Kent Nordin that many dignitaries and embassies around the world have purchased IKEA furniture and are very satisfied with its quali

Simpson & Futurama...Anime...

Image
What will they look like if the animated characters of the series’ The Simpson' and 'Futurama' will one day become anime characters? I found this curious news on the net. For the time being take a look at these 2 masterpieces from Canadian artist who likes to be called spacecoyote. Well I do think that the two images called’ The Simpsozu’ e ‘Futurama: Super Happy Fun Show’ are extraordinary.
